Double loop

Mileage: 2.0

I went out today considering putting in double the mileage I ended up doing but shortly after starting, I decided that it would be best to build my base back up slowly. It is something that I haven’t done in the past and I’m doing my best this time to do it right. So I chose a simple repeat of yesterday’s run, but did it twice. A good reminder that this was the right idea was the metallic taste in my mouth that I developed the last few minutes of the run. I am quite sensitive to heat. The pace I was running was probably a bit too much given the conditions and my lack of recent training; the pre-puke metal taste only confirmed that :-)
Again I had a bit of achilles tightness, but this time in both heels. By the end of the run, however, my leg muscles were not screaming like yesterday. I did have my normal trail shoes and socks on and they felt much better than my “street” shoes. I was feeling some hot spots on the ball of my right foot which reminded me it is probably time for new socks. The Thorlos just don’t have the same cushioned feel that they used to.
